to firsts | part one.

"When was the last time you did something for the first time?".

.This is one of my favorite quotes and one that hangs in a frame on the wall next to our dinner table to remind us every day that we really never grow without pushing ourselves to do something new.  This past year has been a challenging one for us - we've had a lot of losses and said too many good byes, but as we've processed it all, it's provided a lot of clarity to truly live our dreams - both big & small and all the ones in between.  As cliche as it sounds, there is something to be said for seizing the day.

We aren't typically a spring break traveling kind of family.  We usually hang at home (and then lament over the fact it's freezing and gross) while we're off of school for a week.  Not this time.  For the past several years, I've been dreaming of vacationing to San Fransisco.  Meanwhile, my husband has always wanted to see the Redwoods and Yosemite so we decided this was the year to cross them both off of the list.  We left our computers at home and packed books, journals and cameras - we experienced as much as we possibly could in one week and made some incredible memories with our girls.  Here is part one of our journey...
